Inspiration
The Solenwick Floor Lamp started from the paper lanterns at summer night markets, each one hung from the end of a long, bending pole that leaned out over the stalls. The poles curved under the weight, and the round lanterns floated above the crowd, glowing evenly all the way around through their thin paper ribs. We kept the single bending pole and the round paper lantern, set the pole in a heavy stone base, and let the lantern hang out over the room the way it hung over the market.
Natural marble base
The base is cut from natural marble. Its veining and color differ on every piece, so your base will not look exactly like the photos.

Is the shade made of paper?
Yes. The lantern is cotton paper stretched over thin ribs, so it gives a soft, even glow all around rather than a focused beam. Keep it dry, dust it gently, and use an LED bulb, which stays cool inside the paper.
Which finish should I choose?
White almost disappears against a pale wall, Black draws a clear line through the room, and Walnut is a warm brown that sits well next to wood furniture.
Will it reach over my sofa?
The arc reaches 100cm/39.4″ across at a height of 165cm/65″, so with the base set beside or behind a sofa, sectional or armchair, the lantern hangs over the seat or a coffee table. The 30cm/11.8″ round base takes up little floor space beside the sofa.
Is a bulb included, and how do I turn it on?
Yes. It comes with one E26 or E27 bulb in warm 3000K light. E26 is the standard screw base used in the US. It plugs into a wall outlet and turns on with the foot switch on the 450cm/177″ cord.
