Inspiration
The Terralyn Table Lamp started from two things kept side by side: an old two-handled water jar from a Mediterranean village, round at the bottom and narrow at the neck, and a paper lantern from a Japanese tea house, its handmade paper flecked with plant fibers. We carved the jar’s shape from a single piece of travertine, gave it two round handles of solid wood, and set a wide cone of handmade rice paper above it on a short wooden stem.
Natural stone and handmade paper
The base is natural travertine and the shade is handmade rice paper. The stone’s color and pores and the fibers in the paper differ on every piece, so no two lamps look exactly the same.

Beige, Red or Silver Gray?
Beige is a pale, warm travertine that suits a white or Japandi room. Red is a rust-red travertine for a warmer, Mediterranean look. Silver Gray is a gray-beige stone with visible banding. All three come with the same rice paper shade and solid wood handles.
Is the stone real?
Yes. Each base is carved from natural travertine, so its color, banding and pores vary from lamp to lamp. Dust it with a dry cloth and keep water and acidic cleaners off.
What is the shade made of?
The shade is handmade rice paper with plant fibers pressed into it. When the lamp is on, the fibers show through as darker lines, and the light comes through soft and warm. Keep it away from moisture.
How do I turn it on?
It plugs into a standard outlet with a 2-prong plug and turns on and off with the rocker switch on the 200cm/78.7″ cord. One E26 or E27 bulb is included.
